Home // Open Enrollment Webinar Series: Coverage Year 2025 // Office Hours: Determining Households and Income
In this Beyond the Basics office hours session hosted on September 3, 2024, CBPP’s Jenny Sullivan and Allison Orris were joined by Lynn Cowles, Health and Food Justice Programs Manager at Every Texan and former Navigator program manager. They provided a brief refresher on the rules used to determine household size and income when determining eligibility for premium tax credits and Medicaid and answered audience questions.
Correction: During this session, an attendee asked whether a young adult under age 26 could stay on their parent’s ACA marketplace plan. People can stay on their parent’s marketplace plan until December 31 of the year they turn 26 (or the age permitted in their state), even if they aren’t claimed as a tax dependent. Each marketplace has its own procedures for how to handle multiple tax households on a single PTC application; check with the marketplace in your state to learn more.
